About Michael (Mike) Long
I received my first camera from my grandparents when I was eight years old. However, I did not immerse myself fully into photography until I was 21 years old when a friend who owned a camera and film developing business took me under his wing and taught me the nuances of film photography and the film developing process. I enjoyed working with film and utilizing different on-camera filters and lenses to create unique images, as well as learning the developing and processing of film in my private darkroom while trying different print processes.
Now that I have evolved from film to digital imagery, I have now replaced my darkroom with various post-processing programs. However, I still enjoy experimenting on my computer, as I did in the darkroom, to produce my images.
Throughout my fifty year career as a photographer, I have photographed weddings, family events, portraits, landscapes, florals, travel destinations, still-lifes and wildlife. I appreciate the variety of subjects that is available to me and therefore do not specialize in any one particular theme. To keep my skills refined, I have attended seminars, workshops and university classes on a range of subjects over the years.
I hope you enjoy the wide diversity of images that have been captured through the lens of my camera!
“Photography, and the art of capturing images is cheaper than therapy and you can get the same results because you always feel better when you finish a session!”
